The Pegasus Annual Reunion 2017

The annual meet for the old (and some new) Pegasus members took place at The Horse and Groom, Basford, Nottingham on Saturday October 14th 2017. There was a really good turn out and a very special atmosphere as the occasion also celebrated the 50 year anniversary of the Gouffre Berger Expedition to France in 1967. It was also made special by the presence of two people who haven’t been seen since then. Terry Lewis and Mick Logan circulated amongst the crowd and told tales from their perspective which may have served as a memory jog for many. It was good to see them and we hope it won’t be another 50 years before meeting up with them again!!

A Nottingham Evening Post journalist was invited to do a follow up to an article done in 1967. A “Then and Now” piece perhaps would have been of interest but it appears they couldn’t be bothered to turn up. The Berger trip was sensational at the time in breaking new boundaries. Anyway no matter. It was good to see so many interesting people still being actively involved in caving and outdoor activities.

It was preceded on the Friday by the annual visit of some hardy drinkers of the Pegasus Club to the Nottingham Beer Festival held at Nottingham Castle. This is also an annual tradition, making the visit into a long weekend.

All in all it was a really pleasant and memorable meet.

Next year same place, 20th October 2018.
