Taken during the 10 day mourning of the Prophet Mohammed. On the last day known as Ashura the people gather in groups in the bazaar and beat themselves with knifes and fists until blood flows freely.

Alaknanda Valley. The village of Devprayag (meeting of the two waters). A holy village visited by many pilgrims in the summer months




Pilgrims returning from the holy Hindu temple at the village of Badrinath
situated on the Tibetian frontier.









Our second camp and 1st assault. Village peasants so interested in our abode
and the small medicine supply we carry.
